Media Vertical Modernization
What I’m taking on
I’ve stepped into ownership of the Media vertical modernization — coordinating how we evolve legacy workflows, services, and delivery patterns into something more maintainable, observable, and ready for what the business needs next.
Why it matters
Media pipelines touch assets, processing, storage, and downstream consumers. Modernizing a vertical like this isn’t a single migration; it’s aligning teams, sequencing risk, and making sure production keeps moving while the foundation changes underneath.
How I’m approaching it
I’m treating this like a platform product: clear milestones, documented decisions, and incremental delivery instead of big-bang rewrites. That means working closely with engineers who own the systems today, surfacing dependencies early, and making trade-offs visible before they become surprises in production.
What success looks like
Less friction for teams shipping media-related work, clearer ownership boundaries, and infrastructure that can absorb new requirements without another one-off workaround. The goal is a vertical that feels intentionally designed — not accumulated by accident.
What I’m learning along the way
Leading a modernization is as much communication and prioritization as it is architecture. I’m building on past pipeline and observability work while stretching into broader technical leadership across a whole slice of the platform.
