HedgeDoc Team Rollout

The problem

Teams were losing context in email threads that should have been shared, editable documents. Decisions and runbooks were hard to find, and email was the default even when it was the wrong tool.

What I implemented

HedgeDoc (self-hosted markdown collaboration) as the team’s main spot for notes and planning. It replaced fragmented email workflows with something searchable, version-friendly, and easy to link from tickets and chat.

Homelab follow-up

I am rebuilding a similar setup at home in HedgeDoc on Kubernetes, mostly to work through persistence and ingress the way a real stateful service demands.

What I took away

The best internal tools disappear into the workflow until someone tries to live without them. Developer experience work is platform work too — it just shows up as fewer “where did we write that down?” threads instead of packet traces.
